Buddhist scholar and teacher B. Alan Wallace visited Auckland in March 2012 and taught on the practice of shamatha, or 'calm abiding'. This specific meditation technique is designed to develop vivid stability of attention and has been extensively described in all Buddhist traditions for many hundreds of years.
A description of these teachings is available here. You'll also find links to download the audio files if you are interested in listening to these teachings. Unfortunately, the brief residential retreat planned for 30 October to 1 November 2012 has had to be cancelled. |
